7 Rules to Obey For Postpartum Weight Loss

As a new mom you need simple, effective methods for losing weight after a baby. There is indeed a program that works, but first, let me give you a little free information. There are a few important rules that if you simply obey them, you will experience post partum weight loss.

Rule 1 Eat Your Veggies!

This may seem obvious to some of you. After all your mother has been telling you that for years. But, it is time to reconsider this all important food group!

Veggies are full of antioxidants, vitamins, and the dieter’s friend: fiber. If you increase your fruit and veggie intake by 300% you will experience significant post partum weight loss.

In addition to the benefits you will see, if you are breastfeeding, your baby will experience these same benefits with an added bonus: studies have shown that a baby exposed to vegetables through mother’s milk is far more likely to enjoy eating veggies later in life. You will be setting your baby up for a lifetime of healthy eating!

Rule 2 Fridge Food NOT Pantry Food!

Think about eating food primarily from your fridge, rather than your pantry. The kinds of foods that are perishable, that you need to keep cold, are far more likely to be whole, fresh, nutrient rich foods.

Prepackaged foods, the stuff you find on the inner aisles of the grocery store, are full of sodium, chemicals, preservatives, and all kinds of nasty fake ingredients. These can add toxic substances to your body that will hinder post partum weight loss.

As a good rule of thumb, shop primarily around the edges of your grocery store and avoid the toxic aisle foods.

Rule 3 Get Over Your Soda Habit!

I cannot stress this enough. The obesity rates in our country have been linked directly to the consumption of sodas. These are poison. They negatively affect your blood sugar, lead to all kinds of imbalances in your system, and make you fat. Period.

And juice is pretty much the same as Soda in terms of weight loss. Read the label on your juice carton! You will likely find the same amount of sugar and calories as you find on the side of your soda can!

Rule 4 Diet Soda Is NOT A Better Beverage

Unfortunately diet soda is little better than regular soda. The absence of sugar or high fructose corn syrup is the only benefit. But it stops there. The artificial sweeteners in diet drinks fool the brain. They have been shown to cause similar imbalances in insulin production and synthesis to regular sodas, due to their much higher “sweetness” factor.

Studies have shown that regular drinkers of diet sodas will consume more calories throughout the day and put on excess weight, more so than their regular soda-drinking counterparts.

Rule 5 Drink Enough Water To Make You Pee A LOT!

Weight loss is a process of cells shedding waste products they do not need. You must have adequate water in your body to flush these wastes through the endocrine (filtering) system of your body. Just drink water all the time, with every meal, and between every meal.

Rule 6 Move!

You cannot lose weight if you are not moving regularly. This means exercise. But not just any exercise. You need to be building lean muscle and raising your heart rate. Most new moms do not have hours to spend at the gym, so you will need a good program that can help you experience real postpartum weight loss in the least amount of gym time possible!
